26 Weeks Down, 26 To Go
Updated: Oct 10, 2019
At the beginning of the year, I challenged myself to a 52 week photo challenge. 52 weeks of themes and photo ideas to push me. The intent of this challenge was to help drive my creativity, keep my camera in my hand and to try new skills.
I'm about 26 weeks in and have started to reflect on some of my favorite images and what I've learned so far. To date, I've reminded myself that I'm human and missing a week or two isn't the end of the world. In addition, I've had to try shots that are outside of my normal subject including flat lays, black & white and macro images. While I've learned to perfect settings on my camera and setting up images, I think my biggest lesson is the refinement of my voice.
No two photographers are alike. Trying to copy another photographer's look/style usually ends up falling flat or feeling contrived. It's best to find your own voice, style and workflow. I feel like my voice is becoming more and more clear to me through the first 26 weeks. The natural colors, soft lighting, and real life.
It's also hard to reflect all on my images and pick a favorite. Not surprisingly, I've collected 75 photos in 26 weeks. They aren't all share worthy, but it's part of the process in learning and meeting each week's challenge. Not surprisingly, some of my favorite images are the ones that capture my babies just as they are...locking that one small moment in time. It's been the best part of this adventure!
I hope you continue to join me for another 26 weeks! #jbryantphotos52weeks
